The first step in a complete home energy assessment is to discuss what issues you may have in your home. Is a room drafty or cold during the winter months? Is it difficult to heat or cool the second floor? Do windows condensate or leak? Do your energy bills seem too high? Basically, any comfort, health, safety and energy cost issues related to your home will be discussed and noted.
Following the interview, a complete physical inspection of the home will be conducted in which we thoroughly measure and specify the source of imperfections in the building's structure and components. The physical inspection includes:
• Checking the visible insulation levels in your attic, exterior and interior walls,
ceilings,
floors and crawl spaces. |
• Looking for holes or cracks around your walls, ceilings, windows, doors, light and
plumbing fixtures, switches, and electrical outlets that can leak air into our out
of your home. |
• Visual inspection of furnace, air conditioner, water heater, sump pumps, and radon
mitigation system (if present). |
• Physical condition analysis of structure including brick, siding, roof, window wells,
grading and landscaping. |
